The Asian identity is far from monolithic.  Identity intersects a multitude of factors that simultaneously affect each other.  Culture, religion, gender, age, and place of living are just some factors that affect identity.  These factors are often the target of discrimination.  It is especially important to present stories that cover a wide range of identities to children so that they can feel represented in a classroom.
